The topic I chose to work on for the peer review of Interactive Learning Resource is the group of Play-based Learning (Land-Based play and inquiry).
This is a very innovative and unexplored topic for me, and the whole activity seems to be aimed more at younger children. The whole resource looks well organized, each part is clarified and explained in a very understandable way, and combined with a variety of professional references, which is more convincing. The process of playing outdoors not only helps students’ learning skills, but also has a positive effect on their overall academic and social skills in the future. Students have the opportunity to learn and practice teamwork skills, communication skills, problem-solving skills, time management, and logical thinking skills, all of which can be developed during outdoor activities and play. Through reading this activity I realized the importance of land-based play for children.
I have summarized some of the questions I have and what I think could be expanded. First of all, in your learning activities, there was a session on listening to Frog Girl by Paul Owen Lewis. Since I hadn’t heard this story before, I have some curiosity about it. Why did you choose this story? What is the story about and how does it help students? What is the point of making this frog craft? Secondly, your activities are designed to be enjoyable and really help students learn things that they can’t learn in school, while developing their learning skills, exploring, and relaxing in some interesting ways. You mentioned that the activities would help children from the academic side, and with an emphasis on math, but in other fields as well. Maybe could be expanded to explain the connections and advantages between these activities and academic studies.
Thank you for sharing this, it is a very beneficial resource!
