Digital identity has become an indispensable part of us, and the network has become a shadow of us. As the video says, our relationship with technology has been created since we were born. (Future Learn, 1:15) Rather than living, learning, working, etc., is connected to the network, the truth is that we have to have a data identity.


I think the motivation to participate in the network is to enable us to maintain a normal life. For example, real-time dynamics let us know what’s happening on the internet; learning software helps us turn in assignments, listen to classes, and study on time; speaking professionally and using digital tools allows us to achieve recognition at work; and as Stoller says, we have to spend our lives learning about the internet. (Stoller, 2016, 1:30)


The greatest danger of public communications is that we cannot be certain of security. For example, we post something online, and then our identities and privacy are exposed, which makes it hard to carry on with our lives, or we are accidentally subjected to cyber violence. Otherwise, we may be scammed or even threatened by some links or strangers’ inducements without being able to judge the security of some social media.


The key to professional data identity is to create your own value in the network to gain benefits. For example, many bloggers post their blogs, and although the content is not limited, it may be about their daily life, their expertise in their field, their work experience, and so on. The content they publish is not just as spontaneous as the content they post on their personal social media, they are more about maintaining their accounts and creating business value for them. This involves managing accounts, reviewing content, building partnerships with others, etc.
